The main remote transceiver works by sending and receiving high-frequency FM signals to/from your vehicle, often over long distances (depending on location, terrain, and local RF noise/interference). The signals can range from basic commands, such as "lock doors," "activate alarm system," or "open trunk," to a series of alerts that tell you when someone is trying to break in. The alerts even mention how the thief is trying to gain entry, such as through the doors or trunk, or whether he or she is turning the ignition.

Another convenient feature is the remote engine starter. Ideal for cold mornings or evenings, the device lets you warm up your car's engine and interior from a distance while you relax in the living room or pay the restaurant tab. Once you arrive at the car, the engine and heater will be nice and warm, so you don't have to shiver uncontrollably for the first five minutes of the drive.
